Warm Yellows
Hello everyone and happy early Thanksgiving!
Since we last talked, I've had a couple changes. I finished up my term as the Student Athletic Advisory Committee President, which is crazy. Also, I went to Pittsburgh to watch The University of Pittsburgh volleyball game against Duke with some friends and it was wicked fun! After the game we went to explore South Side and The Strip in Pittsburgh. Seems that I can't get enough of Pittsburgh or volleyball because this past weekend, my team worked the NCAA championships at Duquesne University because SVC was the host institution. Now, I am currently sitting in the airport waiting for my flight (Boston, get ready for me!). Limited homework, headphones in and a cold bottle of sprite....I'm in the writing mood, so here goes nothing.
Our topic today is: "Living life in warm yellows"
With the season being over and not having practices or lifting yet, I seem to have more free time than usual, however I haven't turn to the TV to fill that time. Often, I go to the gym, hang with friends or scroll through social media. Since I check social media, more often than I would like to admit, I have come across one saying frequently. The first time I saw the saying "live life in warm yellows" I scrolled right past it, not paying much attention to it. Since the saying kept reappearing I began to think a bit more about it and try to determine what it really meant.
I decided to break this saying down into smaller pieces: "to live life", "in warm" and "yellows". To live life seems like the most blatant and obvious statement. Well duh, of course I'm going to live life! But, it actually has a much deeper meaning. If you're just sitting on the couch, not interacting with people and being super unproductive are you really living life? Life is a very strange concept. Are we just on earth, doing what we feel like, when we feel like it? All for what?
Here's how I decided to interpret the saying to live life...live with a PURPOSE. Live YOUR life. You might be thinking to yourself, what does she mean, live your life? Of course you can't live somebody else's, but we easily get tangled in other people's business. Focus on yourself, care for others but foster an environment where you encourage people to be their best self and allow them to live their life in the best way possible. You need alone time? TAKE IT. You need to be with friends? ASK TO DO SOMETHING. You want to travel the world on a college budget and challenge yourself? DO IT. I'm going to hit you with some 8th grade logic...YOLO!!! You have one opportunity to live your life so CARPE DIEM~Seize the moment~ and live your best life. Utilize your time and don't regret wasting your "now" days.

The second piece of this quote is "in warm". Is this unknown author talking about heat or something else? Well, let me help you answer this rhetorical question. Dictionary.com defines warm as characterized by or showing lively feelings, passions, emotions, sympathies, etc. When I personally think of a warm thing I think of being comfy. Being hot has a negative connotation, where being warm reminds me of being snuggled up, comfortable and cozy. To relate this to being a warm person, it means someone who is approachable, conversational and is non-judgmental.
You're all probably thinking, is she seriously going to explain the word yellow? HECK YEAH!!! It's my blog and I'm going to explain what the word yellow means LOL! A little extra, for sure, but that's just how I roll. Sorry for that small interjection, I'm a little bored. Getting back on topic....Yellow is amazing. Yellow is happy. Yellow is bold. Yellow is calm. Yellow is loud. Yellow is everything.
To put this deconstructed quote back together, living life in warm yellows means living your life with a purpose in an approachable, non-judgmental, bold, loud and amazing way. Live the life you desire. Welcome new adventures. Welcome spontaneous friendships. Welcome the life you have been given and live it to its fullest potential. YOU ARE ALIVE!!! YOU ARE HERE!!!! AND YOU ARE IMPORTANT!!!!
I will leave you with this saying:
"We are supposed to be here, on this planet, during this time. As chaotic as it may be, our purpose is that much greater"
My challenge for you is: Complete one action today that proves you are and can be a warm person. Write down the act that has allowed you to live your life in warm yellows and challenge others to perform one act!
PQTH,
HAN
